To Splurge or to Save… Classics with a Twist

Greetings and happy Monday! Today I’m talking classics.  Classic pieces are those treasures in your wardrobe that continue to hold their value in style overtime. Pieces like trench coats, good quality cardigans, a crisp collared shirt, and staple flats, are a few of many that should have a definite home in your wardrobe.  When it comes to investing, I spend more on pieces that I know will have their value in time and quality, and those are always classic pieces.  I rarely, if ever, spend much money on trendy pieces, as those are the ones I end up donating/selling or just end up sitting unworn for months to years in my closet.  The pieces that I have selected below are ones that I find to be classic in either their silloutte and/or color and have the ability to evolve with current trends.  Also, the pieces selected are great for the Spring season, can carry your wardrobe into Summer and then be recycled again there after.

Thank you for stopping by! I’d love to hear your comments or suggestions you may have for your top classic pieces!

Lastly, I put together a checklist of wardrobe classics.   It is a great reference when figuring out what you are missing/have within your wardrobe alongside a few of my favorites classics I’ve featured through my Instagram.  Check out others by following me here.

    • In my mind, it would depend on the item. A staple coat, blazer, suit, dress, or classic riding boots for example, would be items I would allow a greater budget over other pieces. It also depends on how often you would wear the items as well as proper maintenance/dry cleaning. When I make big purchases like these, I do them at strategic times in the year when I can plan a budget and save in advance. One example is during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which features price reductions to Fall styles ahead of the season which is awesome! It happens once a year and it’s during the months of July and August. It’s a great time to purchase classic pieces and since it happens at the same time every year you can plan a budget ahead of time. I hope that this helps! I appreciate your question Lakeshia!
